Nephrology/Hypertension Home

The Division of Nephrology/Hypertension provides consultative services and Nephrology patient care at two hospitals, Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (JBVAMC). Our main objective is to provide outstanding clinical care and excellent training opportunities in a variety of areas related to Nephrology and Hypertension, including transplant nephrology and renal pathology. We serve a large dialysis population and have a growing comprehensive renal clinic, including pre-end stage renal disease care (chronic kidney disease) and patient education.

Our Faculty brings a diverse set of clinical and research interests, which are listed under their respective biographical sketches. We are committed to making significant research contributions using a vast array of techniques encompassing renal physiology, molecular biology, and clinical approaches.

Our Nephrology fellowship program is structured to attract individuals seeking a career in academic clinical track (2 years) or research track (3 years).

Research opportunities in the Division are available for pre and post-doctoral students in a variety of studies, clerkship rotations, and post-doctoral fellowships.

Our modern treatment and research facilities are located centrally in downtown Chicago. There are inpatient dialysis units at each hospital, as well as a large, state-of-the-art outpatient dialysis center located in the Olsen Pavilion. The Nephrology outpatient clinic is located on the 18th floor of the Galter Pavilion. The academic and administrative offices are located in the 4th floor of the Tarry building of the Feinberg School of Medicine, with contiguous laboratory research space. Additional clinical offices are in a space adjacent to the new outpatient dialysis center at the Olson Pavilion of NMH.
